Specializing in John F. Barnes' Myofascial Release Approach for pain relief. Myofascial release (MFR) is the ultimate mind/body therapy. It is a safe and highly effective, hands on technique that uses gentle, sustained pressure into areas of restriction in the fascial system.
Fascia is a 3-D web of connective tissue that extends continuously from the top of the head to the tip of the toes without interruption. It surrounds and infuses every organ, muscle, bone and blood vessel down to the cellular level.
Due to trauma, inflammatory processes, and poor posture, fascia becomes solidified and then shortened. The loss of fascial mobility produces a drag on the fasical system which then manifests as pain or tightness in other areas. Constant tightening and releasing over time creates spasms and pain in the body. Restrictions can produce pressure of approximately 2000 lbs per square inch on structures that don't show up in traditional testing such as MRI or X-rays.
MFR is a form of therapy that addresses the restrictions and imbalances in the connective tissue. It is used to promote wellness, decrease or eliminate pain and restore movement.
MFR is helpful for a variety of conditions including neck and back pain, fibromyalgia, headaches, TMJ and other chronic pain syndromes.
MFR Benefits:
Reduced pain
Improved posture
Better daily function
Ease of movement
MFR treatment allows us to look at the whole person as a individual each time they come to their session. It does not use lotion or cream and is often done partially clothed in a lying down, seated or standing position.
